Join us between 7:30 am and Noon at the Iowa State Capitol Rotunda on Tuesday, February 28th. Each college will have a booth set up to showcase a great program. We will have breakfast available for attendees. You can set up meetings with your legislators in advance or find them once you are there. Below are a few tips!
Before you go:
-
If you missed our webinar on Trustee Advocacy, you can view it here. You need a member portal account and can get one here.
-
Check out our 2023 Legislative Priorities and review our most recent newsletter.
-
Contact your legislators in advance and let them know you’re coming. Invite them to visit your college’s table in the Rotunda or set up a specific time to meet. Even if you aren’t attending, you can still let them know about the day and ask them to be a part of it (find your legislators here).
-
If you’d like to tour the Capitol while you are there, set it up in advance.
Getting there and making the most of your day:
-
Our offices are at 855 E. Court Ave across the street, and you can park there and shuttle up or go directly to the Capitol. Maps and parking information are here.
-
The House starts work at 8:30 am and the Senate at 9:00 am. Make plans to be in each chamber at the start of their day and you’ll hear a resolution honoring Community Colleges!
-
Governor Reynolds and Lt. Governor Gregg plan to attend and sign a proclamation around 10 am. Stay tuned for specifics.
After the day:
-
Share pictures on social media.
-
Thank your legislator for attending.
