Week 4 saw the beginning of the budgeting process in both chambers. On Monday, I presented along with Indian Hills Community College President Matt Thompson to the House Education Budget subcommittee. Our presentation slides can be found here. Additionally, this week both the House and Senate released their bill for funding K-12 education with the Senate and House both at a 3 percent increase in State Supplemental Aid (SSA). We are continuing discussions with legislators about the need to increase Community College State General Aid by $8.75 million (about 3.9 percent). On Wednesday, the government reorganization bill that the governor discussed in her Condition of the State speech was released. See below for a summary of the key provisions impacting community colleges.
