This week was Community College Day on the Hill. While it was virtual, we still had banners for each college and our famous cookies, so we were able to connect with legislators and get our message across. Pictures can be found here and were also shared on social media at #CommunityCollegeDay. Thanks to all who reached out to legislators. Thursday was also special because the Iowa House passed H.R. 10, a resolution honoring longtime Kirkwood Community College staff member and Trustee and leader for all of Iowa’s Community Colleges, Steve Ovel. The Senate debated and passed their “free speech” bill on Monday, but otherwise this week did not see much action related to Community College issues.
