IACCT Executive Director visits Iowa Valley Board of Trustees
The Iowa Valley Community College (IVCCD) Board of Directors at the meeting Wednesday heard from Association of Community College Trustees (IACCT) Executive Director Emily Shields. “I’m very passionate about community colleges,” Shields said. “I think they’re the most important part of the higher education sector, especially going into the future.”
DMACC to hire counselors to ease high school transition
A $50,000 start-up grant from the Iowa Department of Education and Iowa College Aid Commission will help Des Moines Area Community College fund eight new counselors to be in high schools within the DMACC district.
Ernst Tours Iowa Lakes Community College

Actually living on campus will become a reality for close to 200 students soon: construction workers are in the first days of putting up a $14 million student housing building. The project is a result of a partnership between the city of Peosta, NICC, and College Suites LLC. NICC sold the land to the city of Peosta last year, who, in turn, passed the space on to College Suites LLC.
Hawkeye Community College nursing students get hands-on experience giving the COVID-19 vaccine
Hawkeye Community College nursing students administered the COVID-19 vaccine at a clinic Thursday. The college was allocated 150 doses of the Moderna vaccine and was notified earlier this week. Nursing students were able to administer the shot as part of their clinical work for class credit.
DMACC Boone Campus Nursing Students Take Part in Vaccination Clinic
DMACC Nursing students have been participating in the distribution of COVID-19 vaccinations. DMACC is partnering with Hy-Vee to distribute 1,000 doses of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine.
Opportunities in agriculture PAS connects Iowa Central students with ag industries
Joel Lambert, of Dayton, said the Professional Agricultural Students program at Iowa Central Community College has led him to discover a new path in farming. “If it wasn’t for Iowa Central, I wouldn’t have gone toward precision. The college got me wanting to learn more in agriculture.”
