With next week being the First Funnel Week, this week has been fast paced with many bills coming out of subcommittees. Here are the high points of the week:
Bills of Interest Discussed in Subcommittees
HSB642 – Senior Year Plus Proficiencies
This bill was unanimously passed out of the subcommittee.
HSB644 – CTE Instructor Qualifications
This bill was amended and unanimously passed out of the subcommittee. The amendment adds, “or a baccalaureate degree in any area of study with a minimum of 18 semester hours in the career and technical field of instruction in which the instructor is teaching classes”. This bill is now identical to SF2154.
SSB3139 – Expansion of EMS Training Programs
This bill was unanimously passed out of the subcommittee. It appears on the Senate State Government Committee agenda for Monday, February 17 at 4:00 p.m.
Bills of Interest Filed this Week
HF2353 – Ability of public officials/employees to accept honoraria from restricted donors.
HF2354 – Limitations regarding the amount of honoraria a public official/employee can accept.
HSB688 – Prohibits community colleges from offering new CTE programs that may duplicate programs
offered by private institutions.
SF2223 – Requires community colleges to provide DOE student information regarding the intent to
pursue a four-year degree, progress towards a bachelor’s degree, and enrollment at a four-year college after community college.
