While the entire state is focused on COVID-19 measures, the Legislature Leaders are likely also thinking about and preparing State Budget targets for each appropriations bill. The economic impact of COVID-19 is yet unknown. It is likely Iowa’s communities and their businesses will look to their Community Colleges for assistance, making it important to provide the foundational funding of State General Aid to the colleges. As you visit with Legislators, remind them of the critical role your Community College plays in stabilizing and growing Iowa’s economy, and ask the Legislators to champion an $8.8 million increase in State General Aid as well as COVID-19 financial assistance to allow the colleges to continue to support their students, communities, and businesses.
