90 Strong from CCforIowa Attend ACCT Leadership Congress in New Orleans

Iowa was well represented at the ACCT Leadership Congress in New Orleans last week. We had 90 folks attend, including Trustees and Presidents across Iowa’s 15 institutions. Check out all they were up to on CCforIowa’s social media!

Now that the construction has come to an end, we're inviting our network to see our new spaces to work, host, and collaborate! In our longstanding building just steps from the Iowa Capitol, this needed refresh has us ready for many years ahead. Iowa Department of Education Releases Full Data on Community College’s Fall Enrollment

The newest numbers on fall enrollment are published here. Key takeaways for our network are:

  • Enrollment rebound: Iowa’s higher education enrollment has returned to pre-2020 levels.
  • Community college strength: Community colleges now educate one of the largest shares of resident students in the state.
  • Growth trend: Full-time enrollment at community colleges rose 5.4% since 2022–23, from 28,077 to 29,588 students.
  • Comparative trends: Regents universities also grew (+6.3%), while private colleges saw a 9.5% decline.
  • Gender balance: Women continue to outnumber men in Iowa’s student population (1.23:1 ratio).
  • Outlook: Gains highlight community colleges’ growing role in re-engaging Iowa learners and meeting workforce needs.

 

NIACC Trustee David Steffens Receives 2025 ACCT Regional Award

Congratulations to David on this well-deserved recognition on a national scale! David has served on the NIACC Board of Directors for more than 25 years, consistently championing both students and the community. His leadership has been instrumental in advancing the College’s mission and ensuring NIACC remains a driving force in education and workforce development across North Iowa. NICC Board of Trustees Appoints Dave Dahms as President

The Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC) Board of Trustees voted unanimously to appoint Dave Dahms as president. Dave will serve in the role until his anticipated retirement on June 30, 2027. He previously served as the College’s vice president of finance and administration. We’re grateful for his continued leadership! Read more about Dave’s appointment from NICC.


NCC Awarded Title III Grant for Workforce Development

Northwest Iowa Community College has been awarded a grant of $2.42 million from the U.S. Dept. Of Education to expand student success initiatives and strengthen workforce development. College leaders plan to use the funds to further NCC’s goals to increase access to higher education and improve outcomes for students from enrollment through graduation. Renewal of Iowa Central bond would mean upgrades at local campus

On Nov. 4, the ballots in nine counties will seek voter approval for a $35 million bonding to pay for Iowa Central’s new Ag Science Center on its Fort Dodge campus and expand instruction and learning across its curriculum. Read more from The Daily-Freeman Journal.
