On Tuesday, Lindsay Stoaks, SWCC interim president, was named the sixth president since SWCC’s inception in 1966. Stoaks has served as SWCC’s interim president since May 2023. Welcome President Stoaks!
Information Released on the New FAFSA
This week, the U.S. Department of Education released new state-by-state data and details showing that the simplified, redesigned, and streamlined 2024–25 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. The new FAFSA will help 1.5 million more students receive the maximum Pell Grant – bringing the total number of students eligible for the maximum Pell Grant amount to over 5.2 million. New Kirkwood class helps tackle EMT shortage
For some students, finding time to take a semester-long EMT certification course can be rough, but Kirkwood has made this burden easier by offering its first ever hybrid version in January 2023. While students must be in-person for 16 hours of required lab time, the rest of the course can be done through online pre-recorded lectures and students can send in videos of themselves practicing necessary skills to receive lab credit.
