Covering Rural Colleges and Students Requires Context
Northwest Iowa Community College has an ever-growing Hispanic population; between 2010 and 2020, they saw this demographic's population nearly double. They've also seen an enrollment of students from Kenya, Egypt, and Uganda, which has caused a bigger focus in their Student Services staff on how to educate students and help them adapt to life in rural America. Collegiate Chapter Activator Mini Grant (Iowa FBLA)
Iowa Future Business Leaders of America is launching a grant to help schools that want to start up this career and technical student organization. This grant would award each institution with over $1,000 in value and includes 10 free registrations to the State Leadership Conference, a Chapter Start Up kit with membership materials, a personalized visit from an Iowa FBLA State Officer, one-on-one chapter adviser training; and a virtual competitive events training. Iowa Department of Education announces $1.7 million in grants to support high schoolers in earning industry-recognized credentials
Industry-recognized credentials include certifications, credentials, or licenses that are vetted by employers and endorsed by a nationally recognized trade association or organization in a particular industry. Funding through the Credentials to Careers grant can be used by school districts to develop, broaden, and enhance CTE pathway programs. Applications for the grant can be accepted here, and the deadline is February 16, 2024 at 11:59pm.
