Secretary Cardona met with teacher education students to talk about the success of DMACC's Paraeducator Registered Apprenticeship Program. He is passionate about opportunities for student success and increasing the pipeline of students entering the teaching profession. Iowa Community Colleges Show Increase in Fall Enrollment
Total fall enrollment for 2023 represented an increase by 3,111 students from last year. This represents a 3.8% climb up to a total of 85,362 students, showcasing the second consecutive year of enrollment growth for Iowa. Enrollment of part-time student even hit an all-time high, representing 66.7% of total enrollment. Marshalltown Community College Wins 2 Esports National Titles
Last year, one MCC student took home the national title in individual Mario Kart, and this year, she was able to do the same on a 4-player team. Not only did MCC secure first place, but their other team was able to secure second in Mario Kart. In yet another esport game, Overwatch, the team was also able to take home the title. Career and Technical Student Organizations are for College Kids, Too
Memberships to collegiate career and technical student organizations are traditionally not common as compared to high schools. Two students share their stories about why CTSOs at the collegiate level are so important.
